Fun and educational things to do in Idaho Falls

by Brody Bunn

Maybe you just moved to Idaho Falls, or maybe you've lived here forever and just need some suggestions. Either way, these stops are sure to both be fun and educational. With widely known spots and an Idaho Falls hidden gem, there's something on this list for everyone. In this troublesome year, it can be hard to find a good reason to get the kids out of the house, so here are some suggestions that can be fun for the whole family!

East Idaho Aquarium  - 570 E Anderson St

Aquariums are fantastic places to visit, and the East Idaho Aquarium is no exception. Everyone knows how interesting it is to just sit and watch some fish swim around in their environment, and this local non-profit shows expertise in making your experience unforgettable. From starfish to sharks, and even birds, there's something to catch anyone's attention while you're here. If you've got an hour to burn and kids to keep entertained, this is the perfect place to do it.

ARTitorium on Broadway - 271 W Broadway St

The ARTitorium is one of the most unique places in Idaho Falls. They offer an interactive learning experience for any of those kids that love to get themselves covered in paint. While welcome to enjoy by kids of all ages, those twelve and under are sure to have the time of their lives here. Family night is on Monday from 5:00-8:30 pm, and they do birthday parties!

Art Museum of Eastern Idaho - 300 S Capital Ave

I know we already had an art-related item on this list, but the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho deserves its own slot. While the ARTitorium is great for kids and little ones, the Art Museum is much more suited for a more mature audience. That's not to say you can't bring your kids with you, just that your teens are less likely to refuse to go. Whether you want to visit to see the collective or take a class yourself, this museum has something for every member in the family. They even have a take-home, build your own ornament event coming up on December 19th, just in time for the Holidays. The best part is, it's free!

Collector Corner Museum - 900 John Adams Parkway

This one's a very special way to end our list. This antique collector's museum has one of the most unique collections you can possibly see in Idaho, with one very prominent focus: toys! This is by far the best place you can go to show your kids the things you asked for at Christmas when you were their age. From dolls to action figures to PEZ dispensers, there is something here from everyone's childhood. Expect to spend an hour or two showing your family around and reminiscing! While they don't have a website of their own, you can learn everything you need to from their trip advisor page.
